Top 10 Vegan Baby Toiletries

The following are some of our favorite cruelty-free and vegan-friendly options available on the market right now:

Vegan Baby Toothbrush

Wild and Stone Baby Toothbrushes

Starting with one of the most essential cruelty free baby products in the UK is the Wild and Stone Baby Toothbrush.

These adorable little necessities come with multiple coloured vegan DuPont nylon bristles and a bamboo handle. They are 100% biodegradable, are BPA-free and are crafted with non-toxic paint.

With all of their benefits, these are the perfect first toothbrush option for little hands to practise with.

Vegan Baby Toothpaste

Lavera Fluoride-Free Toothpaste

Looking for the safest baby products for oral health? In addition to the bamboo toothbrushes mentioned above comes the Lavera Fluoride- Free Toothpaste.

Expertly crafted with babies and toddlers in mind, this toothpaste won’t harm your child if it is swallowed… nor has it harmed any animals in the process. The ingredients are impressive, too, as they are made only of plant-based derivatives such as aloe, calendula and essential oils.

As always though, be careful using any toothpaste on babies that are too young, and always watch for signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, hives or swelling.

Vegan Baby Soap

Earth-Friendly Baby Calming Lavender Shampoo and Wash

When it comes to newborn baby toiletries, you always have to be careful. Harsh dyes and chemicals can cause your baby’s skin to breakout, leaving rashes, hives and scaling in its wake.

Rather than take the risk, try out Earth-Friendly Baby Calming Lavender Shampoo and Wash. This gentle yet effective wash will leave your baby smooth and clean, while also being gentle on the skin.

Free of parabens, artificial colourings and synthetic fragrances, this certified vegan baby toiletry is a must.

Vegan Baby Shampoo

Lidl Lupilu Baby Shampoo

There are many shampoos out there that are 2-in-1, but sometimes you want to use some vegan baby bath products from the UK that are specifically formulated to get the job done. For that we recommend trying Lidl Lupilu Baby Shampoo.

Although the product comes with a tiny price tag, you can be rest-assured that the quality isn’t lacking. Crafted with natural ingredients, the Lidl Lupilu line comes in the wash, lotion and shampoo. Try one or try them all!

Vegan Baby Diaper Rash Cream

LuLu and Boo Nappy Rash Balm

If you’ve ever tried any of LuLu and Boo’s herbal baby products, you know what a treat they are. Keeping with that theme, Lulu and Boo’s Nappy Rash Balm doesn’t disappoint.

With natural, organic and cruelty-free ingredients like shea butter, olive oil, jojoba oil and lavender (just to name a few), you’ll feel great about slathering this concoction over your baby’s rashy bum…and so will your baby!

Vegan Baby Sponge

Beauty Shelf Konjac Sponge

Many are raving about the benefits of a konjac sponge for a clear face, but what about for babies?

Beauty Shelf has formulated natural baby products like this specially-crafted beauty sponge that can be used on a baby’s delicate body to slough off dead skin and keep dry and scaly skin at bay.

Vegan Baby Hair Brush

Goochy and Goose Baby Hair Brush

It can be difficult to find a vegan hair brush as many are made from animal derived materials.

However, this Goochy and Goose brush is a great cruelty-free alternative.

Made from wood and offering remarkably soft bristles, your baby may actually enjoy the hair-brushing process.

Vegan Baby Lotion

Kokoso Baby Organic Coconut Lotion

If you are looking for a vegan and organic option for lotion, this is it!

los Kokoso Baby Organic Coconut Lotion is perfect to moisturise your little one’s skin without making it red and irritated. The product combines coconut oils and almonds oils to deliver rich and satisfying moisture to your baby’s delicate skin.

Vegan Baby Bandages/First-Aid

Yellodoor’s 52- Piece Baby First Aid Kit Refill Pack

Not all bandages are created equal and, believe it or not, many are crafted with animal products.

But don’t worry.

Yellodoor’s plasters and first aid kits are vegan approved and kid approved too, with fun prints that your toddlers and babies are sure to love.

What Toiletries Does a Baby Need?

When it comes to what toiletries a baby needs, the task of buying can become a little daunting.

With a great multitude of products marketed towards baby care and hygiene, it can be easy to pick up something that isn’t necessarily best suited for baby’s skin.

By and large, one of the biggest things to watch out for is the use of harsh chemicals and dyes. This may damage your baby’s skin and lead to unsightly rashes while the baby is still young.

Other things to watch out for? While some organic products and products containing essential oils like those mentioned above can be used for babies, you’ll really want to pay attention when using those products on a newborn.

Natural and Organic Doesn’t Always Mean Safe

Because newborn skin is fresh and delicate, you may notice that the baby reacts even to natural and organic products, no matter how pure they may be. For this reason, many mums and dads have veered towards the side of simplicity, using only cotton wool, water and a little oil to keep the baby clean.

Oils to use will vary greatly, and will depend largely on your babys’ skin type. For some, coconut oil does the trick, but for others, coconut oil may be too heavy and may cause bumps due to clogged pores.

Still others may veer towards olive oil, although there has been pushback on the usage of pure olive oil, especially on baby skin, due to its oleic acid content which can have adverse effects on the skin long-term.

The safest options? Many opt to use almond oil to stave away dry skin. It is light and can easily penetrate the skin to leave nothing behind but soft and smooth results.

Other Toiletries

Despite only “needing” the aforementioned cotton wool, almond oil and water, you’ll likely want other things on hand too for when your baby is older or if you happen to need them sooner.

These items include a good lotion that is free of harsh and synthetic chemicals, shampoo, baby wash and nappy rash cream.

Moreover, you’ll also want to stock up on things like baby safe Q-tips, wipes for other messes besides those involving the nappy, dusting powder and more.

For babies aged 6 months and up, you’ll want to consider purchasing a toothbrush and a fluoride-free toothbrush to rid the baby’s teeth of any icky bacteria. Nix the mouthwashes formulated for babies and toddlers, however. Until your little one is old enough to spit, he or she will likely only end up ingesting the mouth rinse which won’t be good for their digestive system.

Sudden Rash?

If you spot a rash after using a baby product, even if it is a vegan, organic, natural or cruelty free product, stop using the product immediately and seek professional medical help. No matter what the product is labeled as, your baby may have specific allergies or intolerances that don’t fare well with the products you are using.

As always, use caution and common sense when using baby toiletries and never continue using a product that is causing adverse effects in your baby.

The Right Vegan Baby Toiletries Are a Must!

To conclude, if you are a vegan family seeking vegan baby toiletries, the aforementioned baby products are a must.

Even if you aren’t a vegan family, many vegan products offer safe, non-irritating, natural choices for your baby’s skin so that you can avoid causing your baby unnecessary discomfort by using the wrong products.
