Travel Friendly First Aid Kit
If you are off on your holiday or a business trip and want to take a first aid kit with you it’s good to know what is and isn’t allowed on domestic and International flights.
Below is the approved list of items that are allowed to be taken on board although we recommend that all first aid items are checked in with your baggage to prevent delays at the check in desk!
First Aid Items Allowed on the Plane
Most holiday first aid kit items are relatively soft and therefore not dangerous to the flight crew or fellow passengers. Those items are still welcome in carry-on baggage for domestic airline flights, however, International flights overseas have, in most cases, banned all except essential items from carry-on bags.
- The approved first aid items for domestic airline flights include:
- Gauze pads
- Blunt end bandage scissors (blades less than four inches)
- Roller gauze
- Triangular bandages
- Adhesive bandages
- Pain relievers
- Lip balms
- Barrier devices for CPR
When in doubt always check with security
Airport security will be able to advise you if you have any doubts. If you have an essential need such as wound care items on a long flight, for example, speak to security about it. Safety on airline flights is important for all of us, but security officers will try to be reasonable regarding passengers’ medical needs.
